My observation

Last week I came across a strange situation. I was shopping at a grocery store belonging to a huge store chain and I saw an embarrasing quarrel between a seller and a teenager. The girl who wanted to buy something didn't wear a mask and the cashier told her that she wouldn't serve her if she didn't wear a mask. The girl had a good argument in her defence though. Why should she wear a mask if not all of the store employees had their masks on properly? I totally agree with her and support her way of thinking. I saw at least two workers who had their masks only covering their mouths and not their noses. What's more, another cashier just two meters from us was wearing the mask the same way other workers were. Are there better in any way than this girl that they may wear the mask in an incorrect way? Wearing a mask this way doesn't make any sense, so why should we wear the mask at all? I come across people wearing their masks only covering their mouths everyday, even at...

My observation

Some time ago now, I started noticing a very interesting relationship between the year group children come from and their eagerness to learn. As I have a younger brother, I see it every day that the younger children are, the more difficoult it is to make them study. It's not only him, but when I hear about his classmates, I realise the things they do at school weren't even a thought in my head when I was at their age. As we discussed on our lessons, the usage of mobile phones inflicts our brains. I think It may be one of the causes children tend to choose the screen over anything. They spend most of their freetime in front of computers playing video games. That might be a cause of another problem growing in younger year groups, which is a change of their behaviour. They seem to have more and more dumber ideas, they act agressively more often. Those changes are serious and they could lead to a society that is lazy, selfish and agressive. I think it is a serious threat and all of...

My observation

This year's holidays gave me much to think about. As I often go out with my friends in my free time, I spend much time in bars, restaurants, cafes. For this reason, I had a opportunity to give money and get the change from various waiters. What I acknowledged, is that more and more waiters and cashiers of all type tend to "accidently reduce" the change they should give you. When I was on holidays with my family on Sardignia, it happened to me almost everyday.  Nowadays many people talk about the amount of thieves that is almost unbearable. They compare them to animals, who can't work for themselves and have to feed on others. They talk about heavier sentences for them, while they don't actually see many of them. Of course it is human to do mistakes, but "accidental change reduces" happens all the time but we just don't know about it. The salary in a supermarket does not suit everyone and they try to gather more money by stealing from the customers. A...

White House investigating health incidents of its officials

The White House said it is investigating "unexplained health accidents" after a report that two US officials in the Washington are experienced sudden symptomps similar to the "Havana syndrome" symptoms suffered by american diplomats and spies abroad. These injuries aren't first of this kind, they began in Cuba in 2016 and are deemed by National Academy of Scientists to be a result of some form of directed energy device and the CIA, state department and Pentagon have launched investigations. The symptoms of Havana syndrome attacks include hearing strange sounds followed by dizziness, nausea, headaches and even losses of memory that can last for years. There are dozens of victims, most of them were stationed in China and Cuba with a handful of officials elsewhere.    These events are very strange to me and I wonder what is causing the US officials to have such syndroms. I think it can be some sort of an attempt to confuse the ranks of the United States and weaken...

Ugandans abducted in a vicious crackdown

Hundreds of ordinary people suspected of supporting opposition politicians in Uganda have been taken from the streets by security forces in the worst wave of repressions in the east African country for decades. Many of captured people say that they suffered systematic torture and detention in harsh conditions, often in secret prisons with denial to have a lawyer or a relative by their side. These abductions led the UK and the US to express concern through diplomatic channels. What should be mentioned is that some of the victims only voted for political parties seeking to topple Uganda's veteran president , Yoweri Museveni. In my oppinion situation like this should have never happen in modern world and any country with enough power to stop this should help the abused Ugandans. People should have be able to vote for who they want, because that's what democracy is. https://www.theguardian.com/world/2021/apr/22/torture-abducted-uganda-crackdown-museveni

220,000-ton megaship impounded in the Suez Canal

A 220,000-ton megaship called Ever Given is snared in a legal row between Egyptian authorities and the ship's owners over a financial dispute. Only two weeks ago the megaship was stuck in the sand in the Suez Canal and the action to pull it out was very expensive and it caused another 442 vessels were held by the blockage. It caused great losses both for Egyptian government, which helped to pull out the ship and the vessels' owners that were held in the blockade. It is said that the canal authority was seeking aproximately  £ 650M and obviously the owner of Ever Given is not willing to pay it and that is the cause of Ever Given being impounded. The negotiations are ongoing to reach a settlement on compensation. In my oppinion owning such a giant ship has a risk in the ship going stuck in a canal and the owner should pay the compensation. Such things shouldn't happen at all and I feel sorry for all the vessel owner that were stuck in the blockage.

A vaccine export to UK banned?

Couple days back, there was an idea made to blockade vaccine exports from EU to UK as Brussels intended to prohibit shipments to countries with a better record in vaccinating their population. British prime minister has told the EU that Europe would be a loser if it imposes a Covid vaccine blockade on Britain and also says that the blockade of either vaccines or vaccine ingredients isn't sensible and the damage done by it would be very big. Boris Johnson declared that he would ,,just gently push" anybody considering puting a blockade of supply chains and will do anything to continue the vaccine rollout in Britain. The UK government and the European commission said in a joint statement on Wednesday evening that talks on a compromise were ongoing and that they are working on a "win-win" solution to expand vaccine supply.   Iny my oppinion countries with bigger vaccine supplies should help the ones with the smallest supplies and with the biggest amounts of  Covid inf...

Christian ruins discovered in Egypt

A French-Norwegian archaeological team has discovered new Christian ruins in Egypt's Western Desert, revealing monastic life in the region in the fifth century AD. It's not the first time this team has been there and this wasn't the first sign of chritians that was discovered there, but it was definitely a relief for the archaeologists when they finally found the ruins they were looking for a long time. The complex is comprised of six sectors containing ruins of three different churches and monks' cells. They were many graffitis and symbols on the walls that proved that the complex was built by christians. The remote site was occupied between fifth and eighth centuries  It's really interesting that even after so many years we can discover new things about our planet and past centuries. What suprises me the most, is the fact that after twelve centuries some buildings can be found in pretty good shape and it is definitely motivating archaeologist to work harder and d...

Arabian royal not punished for a murder

Almost three years back, in 2018, a journalist named Jamal Khashoggi was murdered. After an investiagion it turned out that he was killed on command of Arabia's crown prince, Mohammed bin Salman. The prince hasn't even been charged yet and there weren't any sanctions for what he did. The White House stands by its decision on not to directly sanction the royal. That caused a growth of criticism through the people. Many human rights groups and some senior democrats started to express their disagreement on the news that the White House spokesperson stood by te move not to target the crown prince in an interview on Sunday. The White Hause also says that they don't want to weaken their relationship with Saudis as they have five military bases there. In my opinion a murder should be punished no matter who did it and at what position they are. The crown prince should be put to court and charged as a normal person, no one special. Everyone are equal before the law and the fact ...

Protests in Myanmar escalate

Yet again, tens of thousands of people in Myanmar took to the streets on Sunday in defiance of the military coup. Many were expecting it to be another day of protesting, but no one could expect such actions to occur. Many witnesses have described Myanmar's security forces open fire on protesters, killing a young man and a teenager in the streets of Mandalay. More than 30 people were injured in that crackdown. The police was supported with frontline troops to break up the crowds. This valiation was condemned by the UN, France, Britain and Singapore. What's more, Facebook announced it had deleted the military's main page. In my opinion, such events shouldn't take place nowadays and I think it is duty of every government on Earth to stop the military in Myanmar and let the people have same rights as people have in other countries. I'm sorry for the people in Myanmar and I admire them as they have the courage to go out every day to protest even if it is not safe for the...

Archeologic discoveries of the iron age.

Last week there has been made a great discovery about the domestic life in the iron age. When archeologists started excavating a landmark in Oxfordshire, they where expecting to find something, because the area was occupied for over 3000 years. They weren't expecting to find iron age settlement. What they found was far more than they wanted to find. It was a dozen roundhouses dating form 400BC to 100BC and an enormous Roman villa built in the late third century. All of that was possible thanks to Earth Trust, a enviromental charity that cares for any evidence of past life. What's more, the archeologists found a Roman cementary with fourty graves and a stone-built corn-drying ovens. They found many personal items in a high state of preservation, which shouldn't be suprising, as the discoveries have been made right on the foot of an enormous Roman hillfort. The specialists say that the settlement can continue well into the landscape, beyond the area the archeologists have se...

Demonstrations in Myanmar

Huge amounts of people took to the streets in one of  the cities in Birma - Myanmar after the military took over control in their country. They said that the election that occurred in November of the year 2020 , which was democratically won by Aung Sau Suu Kyi was faked. The military created a council which will manage the country until next election which will take place in a year. The elected leader and the president Win Myint stay under arrest and have not been seen since last Monday. What's more, on Saturday the military have arrested a foreigner - australian economic advisor of Aung Sau Suu Kyi. That was the first arrest of a foreigner since Monday. Internet access has been blocked for 24 hours from Saturday afternoon in attempt to stop protests, but demonstators managed to organize and now every day tens of thousands demonstrators pour on the streets in many cities in order to protest. They vow not to stop protests until their democratic leaders are released and democracy retu...

My goal for this term and how I am planning to achieve that

What I think is my problem in English is speaking for a long amount of time. I start to get nervous when I talk for more than 2 minutes straight. My grammar starts to get worse. I start to use basic words, as I am afraid to make a mistake. I think it is useful to be able to give longer speaches and I want to get better at doing that this term. I have some ideas how to improve in this area. One of them is to start speaking in English to my parents. It wouldn't be useful only for me, they would also benefit from it, as we would start speaking smoother and our vocabulary would start to get better. I could also start recording myself reading my weekly blogs. That exercise would help me find my mistakes and eliminate them. I think I will try reading some english texts loudly so I can get comfortable with speaking in english for at least 5 mintutes straight. I think this three exercises will be enough to improve my speaking level to the point I want. I'm curious how much my speaking ...
